Broken News was a BBC 2 comedy project; written by the same team who wrote "The Thick of It" and based around the premise of a viewer changing between different TV news channels. The casting took place at BBC Television Centre in a small room; I remember that I piled on a thick Scottish accent and made it clear that they probably didn't have many Scottish weather presenters in the cast. I got the part.
Although sadly only one series was commissioned, it was a joy to work alongside some real greats like Benedict Cumberbatch, Indira Varma, Claudia Christian....in fact a real tour de force of TV. The Radio Times press shoot was particularly entertaining...I'm at the back holding an umbrella - just so everyone knows we were the weather team!
My favourite line: "...To nightfall when there'll be reduced visibility...with prolonged patches of darkness!"
